Anointing Oil Vials

Individually hand crafted in various woods, our anointing oil vials are inspired by the
ancient pottery containers called
amphoras that were used in commerce during the
Roman era.  Tall, long-handled vessels with a narrow post  for the base, amphoras
were designed for transporting liquids such as oil and wine throughout the Roman
empire.  Circular holes for their pegged bases in cargo decks on ships and in cart beds
allowed for the secure transport of rows upon rows of amphoras along the shipping
routes of the Mediterranean and Middle East, safely delivering their contents over the
long distances of ancient Roman commerce.
From a vast array of changing
shapes over the hundreds of
years amphoras were
employed, we've focused on
those styles that would have
been existent during the time
of Jesus and the Apostles
and would have been the
ones most likely to have been
seen by them as familiar
furnishings in their world.
We wish to bring to you in your modern world artifacts evocative of the Holy Land from the time
when Jesus walked the earth.  We wish to inspire you by bringing back into view objects
patterned from the daily life of the peoples Jesus encountered during His lifetime and from the
work and travels of the Apostles after Him.

Don't have a practice of using anointing oil?  Not  for special occasions, serious situations nor
on a daily basis?  Can't see why you would want to have a small amount of anointing oil with
you in pocket or purse?  We share our discoveries and what was impressed
upon us regarding the act of anointing in
The Anointing Project.
